Hack for Refugees

For the last couple of years, millions of people have been forced to leave their homes due to war, terror, persecution or climate change – some of them seeking a new home in Sweden. This puts a heavy pressure on the administration, leading to long waiting times and prevented integration.

Hack for Refugees is a network of designers, programmers and entrepreneurs who wants to help the situation. As a start, we organized a hackathon under the same name, focused on developing digital solutions for refugees and volunteers, on 5-6 December 2015.

I took part in the planning and organising, both before and during the hackathon. The network Hack for Refugees is currently working on taking the ideas from the hackathon further, as well as helping other cities to arrange their own hackathons.
